Daily Schedule
8:15: Early Arrival
An option that allows for an earlier drop-off time inside until 8:30.
8:30: Arrival
Children begin the morning with an individual greeting from the teachers and outdoor play (weather permitting).
9:00-9:10: Good-Morning Circle
We start every day with our "good morning" song and a story related to the theme of the week.
9:10-9:30: Snack
Snack time provides a great opportunity for children to practice self-help skills in order to move toward independence.
9:20-9:30: Transitional Activities
A teacher will set up transitional activities, engage children in lively conversation, or allow them to look at a book
independently.
9:30-9:40: Introduction Circle
The art activity for the morning is demonstrated along with explanations regarding materials in the various learning
centers.
9:40-9:55: Small Group Activities/ Mystery Bag
Children are split into groups to participate in a developmentally appropriate activity best suited to the needs of the
group, or in our Mystery Bag activity. Two children of the day bring in something from home to go into the Mystery
Bags. Both children will give clues, and the group will have three tries to guess what is inside, followed by three questions.
9:55-10:55: Art & Free Play
Children are free to move throughout the classroom, making choices and managing their time as they investigate the
activities available for exploration. Areas of the classroom include: sensory table, art, easel painting, play dough, math
table, science table, book nook, listening center, writing center, puzzles and games, block building, and dramatic play.
10:50: Five Minute Signal
Music is played on a xylophone as a signal to children that we will be cleaning up in five minutes.
10:55: Clean-Up
While our clean-up song is played, children work together to put away toys and materials in the different areas of the
classroom.
11:00-11:15: Music Circle
We introduce our new songs of the week and select songs from our Cloverdale song chart. After music, we read another
story.
11:15-11:55: Lunch & Pack Up
Children unpack their own lunches, and we encourage them to be as self-sufficient as possible. After children pack up
they may look at a book, work on puzzles, or draw.
11:55-12:25: Outdoor Play
We play outside every day of the year unless it is raining, conditions in the play area are unsafe, or there is a dangerous
wind chill factor. In the event of inclement weather, we use the parish hall upstairs for gross motor play.
12:25-12:30: Family Arrival
Lunchboxes and backpacks are brought outside to make dismissal easier.
12:30: Morning Dismissal
Children are individually sung to and dismissed to their parent/caregiver.
